Teeth Whitening at Ambience Dental Practice in Swindon

Many of us wish that we had a set of pearly white teeth, but years of drinking tea, coffee, red wine and smoking have taken their toll. But it is possible to have teeth as shiny and clean as Hollywoods finest actors, without needing to consult a Beverley Hills speacialist.

Whitening improves the appearance of your teeth without removing any of the natural tooth surface.

We provide two options:

Home Teeth Whitening Technique

The essense of this technique is that you bleach your teeth at home using a tooth whitening (bleaching) gel, which is held next to the teeth by special bleaching trays.

Initially moulds of your teeth are taken so that special bleaching trays can be made, and your dentist then shows you how to apply the tooth whitening gel onto the trays.

You will then take the gel and trays home. It is best to use the gel and trays overnight, in other words sleep in the trays. If this is not possible, the system should be used for a minimum of 2-3 hours every evening.

In-Surgery Teeth Whitening Technique

With this technique, the whitening is carred out at the dentistís surgery. A two hour appointment is required with the actual tooth whitening procedure taking an hour.

The dentist will apply protective layers to the gums and lips and then the whitening gel is applied to the teeth. After this the light is directed onto the gel. The light is a high energy light in the blue part of the spectrum that accelerates and intensifies the bleaching process. It activates the gel, which then gently removes the stains.

Why it is best to go to a dentist?

Dental supervised systems offer a full examination prior to treatment. This will determine:

  • Nature and extent of discolouration and appropriate regime
  • Any damaged or leaky restorations
  • Any filled or/and crowned teeth, that will not be affected
  • Custom manufactured trays that will fit properly and not cause damage
  • Whitening agent only contacts the teeth necessary
  • Whitening gels are Class 2 medical device approved
  • Supervised by a professional
  • Advice on other cosmetic options
